New Shoes for the Cobbler's Kids

There's an old adage that we like to remember as: "The cobbler's kids go barefoot."  Meaning that the cobbler is too busy making shoes for others that he doesn't have time to make them for his own children.

There is a parallel in the website business.  For a long time we've been busy building and maintaining sites for clients while our own site was neglected.  Also, we find it a lot more fun building something that others will admire because it represents them well than building something for ourselves.

Tonight all that changed.  You're viewing the new Troutreach Technologies LLC website.  Freshly built with a new coat of pixel paint on a Drupal 7 infrastructure with a customized version of a responsive Omega based theme.  The Portfolio page now shows many more client websites and highlights their banners in an image rotator.  Also new is the Blog section that you're reading now.  We plan to make postings on a regular basis that may be useful to people from prospective clients to other Drupal developers.

Of significant importance, the new site is responsive.  That means that it responds to the size of the viewer's screen by sizing content, particularly images, appropriately and moves sections, blocks, when necessary to display information without compromise.

While designed for today's modern browsers using HTML5 and CSS3 it works acceptibly in older browsers too, particularly Internet Explorer Version 9.  This is important because users of Microsoft's Vista operating system cannot take advantage of Internet Explorer 10, Microsoft's first browser to do a decent job of handling HTML5 and CSS3 standards compliant coding.  Of course, users of older Windows machines, i.e., Windows XP and Windows 7, can get a compliant browser by installing other browsers such as Chrome or Firefox.

We like the new website and hope that you do, too.  Regardless, we would love to hear your opinions.  Please feel free to send us a message using our Contact Us page.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!
